Around 300 Islanders were prescribed Tamiflu between last Friday and today (Thursday), which compared to 475 during the previous week, while two people were being treated for the disease at St Mary’s Hospital.
"Although the numbers of people collecting anti-virals is down, we would encourage everyone to still ensure good hand hygiene and use tissues to catch their sneezes which should then be binned," said a hospital spokesperson.
Homeopath Hugh Harrison, of Hillis Gate Road, Northwood, has recommended the use of homeopathic medicines for flu symptoms.
"The medicines do not interfere with other medications prescribed by doctors and they can be taken by young children, pregnant women and elderly people," he said.
